The consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) is responsible for an estimated 184,000 deaths, globally, each year, according to past research. The beverages which contain the highest sugar contents include soft drinks, energy drinks, sports drinks, homemade sugary drinks and fruit drinks which contain more than 50 calories per 8 ounces.
